PXL students open pop-up shops in Kapelstraat

Hasselt - Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. sharp, the first X-store will open, a unique pop-up concept with eight shops run by business management students from Hogeschool PXL. They will be selling original products there for a week.

All the products for sale there are conceived, developed and produced by the student entrepreneurs," says PXL head Ben Lambrechts. "We are convinced that such initiatives create a new generation of ambitious entrepreneurs in our city," adds alderman Rik Dehollogne (N-VA).

There are eight stores. Rapproche sells bracelets that allow you to express feelings and Eneca breathes new life into vases. Flame Fame and Sabun sell artisan-made candles and soap, respectively. Ambrosia is launching a fresh spring beer and Restain a reusable kitchen roll.

Finally, Vestimenta and Somethin are in the final battle of several entrepreneurial competitions for students. Under the name Vestimenta, Dominique Bleiman, Kevin Celis, Biob Caberg, Tarik Remans and Burak Dadaglioglu developed a collapsible coat rack. "By means of an integrated mechanism in the hanger, the legs of the coat rack come up. Hanging clothes is easier and faster and the coat rack is less likely to get damaged. The compact size also makes these hangers ideal for travel."

Placemats SomeThin presents placemats and coasters made of natural stone with a thickness of 0.3 mm thick at Chapel Street. "For this we used production surpluses from a company that designs ultra-thin natural stone panels," Henri Driessen says. "After 2 years of testing, SomeThin was created. We sell a sustainable product that combines the beauty of nature with design. One drawback: they are not allowed in the dishwasher, but washing them under the tap or with a wet cloth is possible."
